FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A POD?

A Pod is one container, growing anywhere from 3,808 – 7,616 plants. We developed the Pod concept as a way to maximize revenue while minimizing risk and labor. One farm includes four pods, a storage cooler, propagation room, work space, and an optional flex space.

WHY THE POD CONCEPT?

Once you are growing with a full farm, you are able to harvest and deliver an entire container of produce every week, providing your customers with a reliable, consistent supply. With the Tiger Corner Farms workspace design, farmers are able to harvest, sort, and package their produce all in one place.

WHY AEROPONICS?

By growing plants aeroponically, it reduces the risk of soil borne diseases. Because the roots are exposed to more oxygen, the plants grow faster. Aeroponics is safer and more efficient, using up to 98% less water than traditional farming methods.

HOW MANY PLANTS CAN I GROW?

Carefully crafted and customizable aeroponic panels allow you to grow 3,000 – over 7,000 plants per container each growing cycle, while maximizing air flow and reducing waste. Spacing between plants can be adjusted according to what you are growing.

HOW HANDS OFF IS IT?

While our software has automated many aspects of the growing cycle such as irrigation, nutrient dosing, and light cycles, our aim is to reduce labor for farmers, not replace them. Farmers will be responsible for seeding, monitoring and harvesting, just as they would in the field.

WHAT IS THE FLEX SPACE?

Need extra storage? How about restroom facilities? Do you want students to be able to interact with plants without risking food safety? Perhaps you’d like some space for research and development? Our flex space is designed according to your farm’s needs.

WE BUILD AEROPONIC FARMS

Aeroponics is the process of growing plants in an air or mist environment without the use of soil. Aeroponic container crops can be grown anywhere, in any climate, using 90% to 95% less water than traditional farming. Using state-of-the-art technology and artificial lighting in a completely enclosed, 100% controlled environment, produce is fresh for harvest and sale year round.

We’re often asked: Why aeroponics over hydroponics? Compared to hydroponics, aeroponics offers more control over the root system, provides maximum root aeration and reduces the risk for soil borne diseases. Because the roots are exposed to more oxygen, the plants grow faster. Aeroponics is safer, more efficient, and uses even less water than hydroponics—a selling point for us and you.
